Organ Culture

A Human Skin Culture Model for Personal Care Claims Support and Preclinical Research

Derived from full thickness human skin, these enable the evaluation of compound efficacy and safety of normal skin ex vivo.

Why Organ Culture?

By maintaining normal skin tissue ex vivo, this model benefits from having a genuine dermis (the skin equivalent model uses a constructed collagen gel containing fibroblasts). Thus, dermal responses/interactions can also be investigated.

Epistem can source skin samples according to requirements and derive multiple biopsies for ex vivo use. The cultured skin biopsies are used to investigate the effects of applied agents, providing data which can easily be translated to human skin. These agents can be administered both topically and systemically.
